Community Events

  • Reading Day LuncheonThursday, May 7th, starting at 11 am at the Briarwood Clubhouse. Take a break from studying and stop by for lunch, while supplies last!
  • Exam Study BreakSunday, May 10th from 8 – 10 pm stop by the Briarwood Clubhouse. Students take a well deserved break from your studies and join us for some yummy pizza, sodas and snacks while supplies last! Good luck on exams and congrats to our graduating seniors!
  • Goodwill Donation TentSaturday, May 16th, starting at 11 am – 4 pm at Cardinal Court/Blue Ridge Drive. The Goodwill will have a site setup to accept donations at this location. You can also donate 24/7 to an EDGAR box if you are unable to make the pick up. For pick-up, please call 1-855-338-5925. Help people in your community get back to work!
  • Evening Swim & End of School Party Friday, May 29th starting at 6 – 8 pm at the Huntsman Pool. Come relax by the pool as the sun sets or enjoy a fun evening swim. Snack on pizza and sodas while supplies last!
  • Hethwood May Yard Sale Saturday, May 30th 7 am – Noon. Come on out and sell items you don’t need anymore and maybe you will find deal on something you do need! This yard sale will be held on the lawn area in front of the Hethwood Square Shopping Center-Close to the entrance off Hethwood Blvd. We will advertise in the Roanoke Times – The Burgs section. Please call and register @ 552-5252 by the 28th. As always, we appreciate Lester Development for allowing us to use the lawn area. We are always careful to follow their policy of “no cars on the grass.” Rain Cancels.
  • Hatha Yoga Class Every Tuesday and Thursday come to the Huntsman Clubhouse and enjoy a relaxing Hatha Yoga class from 6 – 7 pm. This class is appropriate for a variety of ages and levels. Kindly show your driver’s license with your Hethwood or Foxridge address and you will get the special class rate of $5. Please remember to bring your own mat and feel free to email Nicole Paglialonga if you are new or have questions at or call the Hethwood Foundation at 552-5252.
  • Hethwood Market Nights Every Tuesday come out to the Briarwood Clubhouse from 5 – 7 pm, and enjoy a Pulled Pork or Beef BBQ sandwich, chips, and a cookie for $5! Accepting cash and credit cards! No Hethwood Market Nights on May 19th and 26th.
  • Get Pizza for $5 from Dominos Every Wednesday come out to the Briarwood Clubhouse from 4:30 – 7:30 pm, and enjoy fresh, hot pizza from Dominos! No Dominos on May 20th.

Out and About in Blacksburg Events

  • Center for the Arts at Virginia Tech’s Individual tickets are now available for the 2015 season performances. From timeless classics and thought-provoking performances to works that bring fresh perspectives, the center’s upcoming performances will be coupled with engaging activities that bring additional opportunities to explore and grow. Tickets for individual performances for the 2015 season can be purchased online, at the Moss Arts Center's box office, noon to 6 p.m. on Monday through Friday, and noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, or by calling 540-231-5300. Subscriptions are also available and offer discounted prices. Student and youth tickets are always $10 per performance, including subscriptions.
  • Hethwood Market – Come out to the Hethwood Market on Monday nights for BBQ, Tuesdays and Wednesdays for take out dinners, and Thursdays for pork ribs. Check out the Hethwood Market calendar on their Facebook Page for menus, live local artists, and their planned wine/beer tastings from local vineyards and breweries.
  • Healthy Kids Day – On Saturday, May 2nd starting at 11 am, bring your children to Cassell Coliseum and Deitrick Field. The Virginia Tech YMCA presents a kick off to the summer to promote kids maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This FREE event will last from 11 am – 4 pm and will consist of games, crafts, snacks, and family fun for all.   • United Way Drive-Thru Breakfast – on Friday May 29th come out to the Hampton Inn located at 380 Arbor Drive, Christiansburg, VA 24073 from 6 – 9 am for a delicious bag breakfast. This amazing meal will consist of a hot biscuit, Blacksburg bagel, fruit & granola bar, Starbucks-brewed coffee, and a newspaper. Every dollar of your $10/bag donation stays in our community and helps United Way of Montgomery, Radford and Floyd provide for community needs. All food is generously donated by sponsors. A few lucky winners will have a piece of jewelry hidden in their breakfast bag! Please call (540) 381-2066 or email with any questions.

Dog Reminder

As the weather gets warmer, we encourage residents to take advantage of the nature trails. For the safety and well-being of all residents, and in accordance with the Pet Policy and Blacksburg Town Ordinance, please remember that all dogs must be kept on a leash at all times. Please also remember to pick up after your pet so we can keep our community clean and enjoyable for everyone.

Pool Information

Pool Pin Registration:

Wednesday and Thursday, May 13th, and 14th, from 5:45-7:45pm at the Huntsman Clubhouse.

  1. Persons 16 years or younger that do not have a picture ID or Drivers License. One adult per household should come by, fill out registration forms and pick up the children’s pool pins. Initial pins are free; however, replacement for lost pool pins will cost $2.00, which is nonrefundable. Children will be required to wear pins at all times while using our aquatic facilities.
  2. Adults that do not have a picture ID. Please note that a picture ID may be obtained from the VA DMV. A list of residents will be kept at the pool gate. Adults over 16 years are required to show ID to enter the pool.
  3. Residents may also obtain a pool pin at both pools during normal hours if they are not able to attend the pool pin registration night.

Pool Hours:

Huntsman Pool: 11am-6pm Daily
Briarwood Pool: 12pm-8pm Daily (w/lap swim M-F 11am-12pm and 6pm-7pm)

Pre Season Hours:

Depending on lifeguard availability and weather permitting, we anticipate opening the Briarwood pool on the weekend of May 16th & 17th from 12 – 8 pm. Both pools will be open starting on May 23rd.

*Please remember that the above listed dates are subject to change depending on lifeguard availability and the weather.*

*Please note: As we start the swimming season, we may be working on an abbreviated schedule (during the weekdays) until all of our lifeguards are out of college and high school. Rest assured we will open the pool as much as possible. Please feel free to call the Hethwood office if you have questions @ 552-5252. Thanks!*
