Community Events

  • Get Pizza for $5 from Dominos 
    Every Wednesday come out to the Briarwood Clubhouse from 4:30pm – 7:30pm and enjoy fresh, hot pizza from Dominos! No Dominos on December 25th due to the holiday.
  • BINGO – Tuesday, December 3rd from 6:00pm – 7:00pm at the Briarwood Clubhouse. Come play BINGO for your chance to WIN BIG!! Light refreshments will be served while supplies last. For $1 receive an extra BINGO board. All proceeds will go to the Special Holiday Gift Fund.
  • Sunday Night Football & Exam Study Break Sunday, December 8th starting at 8:30 pm at the Briarwood Clubhouse. Come out and watch the Falcons take on the Packers. We’ll have pizza, snacks and soda while supplies last.
  • Reading Day Lunch – Thursday, December 12th starting at 11:00 am until supplies last at the Briarwood Clubhouse. Take a break from studying and stop by for pizza, wing bites, and cinna-stix from Dominos.
  • Pet Pictures with Santa – Thursday, December 12th from 6:00pm – 7:30pm at the Briarwood Clubhouse. Bring your camera and furry friend for a photo op with Santa! Call and reserve your time slot as space is limited. Please call 552-5252 by 4pm on December 11th. All pets must be leashed and under control at all times. No reptiles please. Please bring 2 cans/boxes of food to be donated to the local food pantry. This food will be used to help many needy families in Montgomery County.

To enter into the drawing for the monthly community winners please stop by the Welcome Center and submit an entry form. Drawings take place on the 15th of each month. You must be a current resident to win.

Welcome Center Holiday Hours

The Welcome Center will be closed at 2:00pm on Saturday, December 21st through Wednesday, December 25th. The office will re-open on Thursday, December 26th.

The fitness center will be closed on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, December 23rd, 24th and 25th. The fitness center will re-open for regular hours (9am-9pm) on Thursday, December 26th. The fitness center will also be closed on December 31st and January 1st. Normal hours will resume on January 2nd.

Out and About in Blacksburg Events

  • Holiday Parade – Friday, December 6th at 7pm. Come out and see the lights and hear great music on the streets of downtown Blacksburg. This event is co-sponsored by Blacksburg Parks and Recreation and the Virginia Tech Chapter of Circle K.
  • Walk-n-wine – Saturday, December 7th from 9:00am – 5:00pm. Meet at the Blacksburg Community Rec Center at 9:00am. Home to the second highest waterfall in VA, Bottom Creek Gorge is a moderate 5 mile hike. Afterwards take a moment to enjoy local wine tastings, mulled wine, a winery tour, and a special tasting from AmRhein’s Wine Cellars. Age 21+. Cost for residents is $10 and non residents is $20. Registration deadline is December 5th. For more information call 540-961-1133.
  • Blacksburg Farmers Market – Every Wednesday from 2pm-6pm and Saturday 9am-2pm. Support local farmers with your purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables while enjoying the beautiful outdoors. Located at 100 Draper Road in Blacksburg.
  • Hethwood Market – Come join the Hethwood Market on Tuesday and Wednesday nights in December for a great to go dinner. Be on the lookout for Christmas trees and wreaths coming soon and take advantage of FREE delivery to your home. Check out the Hethwood Market calendar and their Facebook Page for menus, artists, and their planned wine tastings from local vineyards.
  • Center for the Arts – The new Center for the Arts is opening! Tickets for the inaugural 2013-14 Center for the Arts at Virginia Tech season of performances—including music, theatre, dance, and more—are available now at and 540-231-5300. Tickets for any student are $10. Virginia Tech students only can sign up for text notifications of FREE last-minute Rush Seats; to sign up for the notifications, text “arts” to 31996. ID required at the box office.

Heat Reminder

As the weather gets colder please ensure that the thermostats are set at a minimum temperature of 60 degrees. This minimum temperature must be maintained to prevent pipes from freezing and causing damage to your apartment as well as damage to other apartments in the building.

Special Holiday Gift

For 25 years Foxridge residents, team members and independent contractors have been helping those less fortunate with a program called “A Special Holiday Gift”. We have started accepting donations and will continue through December 5th. We welcome and encourage everyone to contribute. Any amount is appreciated. Our goal this year is $1,728 which is very attainable. Please bring donations to the Welcome Center and check out all our great raffle items. 100% of the contributions will benefit the following organizations: Women’s Resource Center, United Way, Montgomery County Christmas Store, NRV Senior Services, The Angel Tree and The Montgomery County Humane Society. Thank you in advance for all your support!

Raffle Ticket Pricing

$2 for 1 ticket, $5 for 3 tickets, and $10 for 7 tickets.

Drawing will take place December 6, 2013. Please stop by the Welcome Center to purchase tickets. All proceeds go toward the Special Holiday Gift. Raffle items include a $50 Wal-Mart Gift Card and all items pictured. Last day to purchase raffle tickets is December 5th.

Hatha Yoga Classes

Tuesdays from 6:00pm – 7:00pm at the Huntsman Clubhouse. Cost for classes: Residents $40 (for 8 classes), Non-Residents $50 (for 8 classes) Please register and pay with Cardio Uncaged in advance for the date of the class. Located at 907 Hethwood Blvd. Blacksburg, VA 24060.

We are excited to have Cardio Uncaged in the neighborhood! The Hethwood Foundation is pleased to partner with Cardio Uncaged. Cardio Uncaged is a fitness studio offering great group exercise classes such as Boot Camp, Yoga, Zumba, and Turbo Kick. Class space may be limited. Renewal Notices

Thank you for your residency in the Foxridge Community. We are excited to have the opportunity to serve you for another year. If your lease ends during the months of May, June, July, or August stop by the Welcome Center during our Renewal Open House from 12/9/13 – 12/11/13 to discuss your plans! Win BIG when you renew, all renewal leases submitted prior to 12/11/13 for the 2014-2015 lease term will be entered into a drawing for a 50” Emerson LED TV!

Snow and Ice Removal

In case of inclement weather, please park your car at least 3 feet away from the edge of the sidewalk so the service team will be able to remove any snow and/or ice accumulation. Please contact the Welcome Center if you need a snow shovel. Shovels are available free of charge and can be checked out for 2 hours at a time.

Carpet Cleaning

Complimentary carpet cleaning will be offered until the end of March. To qualify you must have lived in your apartment home for six months and have at lease three months remaining on your lease. Please call the Welcome Center at 951-1221 to schedule your carpet cleaning. Space is limited, so reserve your spot TODAY!

** Any appointments not kept by the resident or cancelled within 72 hours of the appointment will be charged a $25 rescheduling fee. **

Blacksburg Transit

Blacksburg Transit and VTTI are working together on a study (TIGGER-Transit Investment in Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction) to evaluate the effective of technology usage in bus routing and scheduling.

As part of the study, temporary cameras may be placed near bus stops in the Hethwood area. These cameras will not capture identifiable passenger information. Questions or concerns may be sent to Gracie Nelson at (540)961-1185 or

Neighborhood Pickup Project

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is kicking off its Neighborhood Pick-up Project in the Hethwood community. Every Saturday during the month of December your local ReStore Transport truck will be in your area to pick up donations of gently-used furniture, appliances, lighting supplies, building materials, re-purposed items, antiques, plumbing, electrical and doors and windows. 

Clean out the old to make room for the new and get that end-of-the-year tax receipt. Your donations help raise money to build homes for local families in need.
