Blacksburg is a college town, with more students than permanent residents. The heart of Downtown Blacksburg is Main Street, which features numerous bars, restaurants, and shops that cater to both the students and townspeople. It gets busiest during football weekends, when thousands of Virginia Tech alumni return to Blacksburg for Virginia Tech football games.
Do whatever. There is nowhere that is dangerous to go and nowhere is off limits or restricted and you will almost never run into construction! If you want to shop...shop, if you want to sit on the curb...or one of the plentiful benches and talk...do that. This is so free and relaxing. just forget about making plans and go downtown and chill for a while.
