The Hokie Bucket List – Blacksburg, VA

If you live in our apartments in Blacksburg, VA then certainly you have seen or heard of the 'Hokie Bucket List'. If not, here it is! How many have you been able to check off? At least be sure to accomplish #72!

1. Jump to “Enter Sandman” at a home football game
2. Run through the tunnel in Lane Stadium and touch the Hokie stone for good luck
3. Participate in Relay for Life
4. Run or walk in the 3.2 for 32 Remembrance Run and attend the April 16th Candlelight Vigil
5. Eat at the Homeplace in Catawba
6. Sit on the edge of the War Memorial Pylons and enjoy the beauty of campus
7. Learn the words to the fight song, Tech Triumph, and the Old Hokie cheer
8. Practice our school motto, Ut Prosim, and participate in the Big Event
9. Pull an all-nighter at the Math Empo
10. Hike the Cascades (even better when the Cascades are frozen!)
11. Experience the Corps/Civilian Snowball Fight during the first snow of the year
12.Get a picture with the HokieBird
13. Keep ring tradition alive and order your class ring!!!
14. Float down the river on tubes at the New River Junction
15. Go to your class’s Ring Dance
16. Spend a nice sunny day on the Drillfield and take a picture on the steps at Burruss Hall
17. Go sledding on a borrowed Owen’s dining hall tray
18. Rush Worsham Field after a big win!!
19. High-five the HokieBird
20. Go to at least one away football game
21. Cheer with the Cassell Guard at a home basketball game
22. Go to an SAA-sponsored Spirit Rally
23. Welcome new Hokies by participating in Hokie Helpers, Hokie Hi Picnic, Orientation, Gobblerfest, or Hokie Camp
24. Learn how to gobble like a true Hokie
25. Take a picture at the place that meant the most to you on campus
26. Attend a Hokie sporting event, other than football or basketball
27. Take a date to the Duckpond and have a picnic
28. Hike to McAfee Knob and get your picture on the edge
29. Hike Dragon’s Tooth
30. Help someone in need and participate in Actively Caring for People
31. Sing karaoke at TOTS Tuesday
32. Meet the University President, Charles Steger
33. See a concert in Burruss Hall
34. Play an intramural sport
35. Eat a turkey leg at a home football game
36. Go to your class’s Ring Premiere
37. Visit the Holtzman Alumni Center before graduating or attend an Alumni Association sponsored event such as Grad Fair, Grad Bash, or Speaker Series
38. Get a picture with a student-athlete 39 Go to the Homecoming tailgate at Holtzman Alumni Center
40. Get together with a group of friends for a football game and paint your stomachs or chests orange and maroon
41. Eat lobster at West End
42. Go to the holiday dinners at D2
43. Eat Sunday Brunch at West End
44. Support Downtown Blacksburg and eat at PK’s, Mike’s Bar and Grill, and The Cellar
45. Eat a gyro at Souvlaki
46. Eat brunch at Gillie’s
47. Visit the Farmer’s Market in Downtown Blacksburg
48. Go get half-price sushi rolls at Sake House on Monday nights
49. Find all the gargoyles on campus (Hint: there are 14 of them)
50. Study in Torg Bridge
51. Act out the Principles of Community and practice Hokies Respect
52. Take a picture with a painted HokieBird around Blacksburg (Hint: there are 69 Gobble de Art statues)
53. Wear the Orange and Maroon Effect shirts to the corresponding football games
54. Wear the HokieZone t-shirt with Hokie Pride
55. Walk or bike down the Huckleberry Trail
56. Take a class that seems interesting (even if it has nothing to do with your major)
57. Take World Regions with Professor John Boyer
58. Go to the Merryman Center and visit the football museum
59. Play a game of pool or go bowling in the Breakzone
60. Check out a bike from Venture Out and go for a ride
61. Take an exercise class at War Memorial or McComas Hall (hint: they have free classes during the first week of each semester)
62. Grab free popcorn and watch a movie at the Lyric Theatre on Mondays
63. Take a trip to the Perspectives Gallery to view the newest art exhibit
64. Visit Mountain Lake to hike the trails and do the self guided tour of the Dirty Dancing movie locations at the hotel and grounds
65. Watch a movie at the Starlite Drive-In Theater
66. Experience a cultural event (International Street Fair, Martin Luther King Jr. event, Dwali, etc.)
67. Participate in Take Back the Night
68. Take a picture with the biggest VT on campus (hint: it is in Upper Quad)
69. Get donuts from Carol Lee Donut Shop
70. Participate in a fraternity or sorority philanthropy event
71. Watch a play put on by the Theatre Arts and Cinema Department
72. Graduate!
